Biography:

Marianne Vos is considered to be one of the greatest cyclists of all time, amassing hundreds of victories across almost all of cycling's major disciplines. She's won two Olympic gold medals, three elite road world titles, eight elite cyclocross world titles, and two on the track, not to mention a haul of European elite and junior titles and  Dutch national titles on the road, cyclocross and mountain bike.

Born in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands on May 13, 1987, she won her first national championships in 2002 in mountain biking and road racing as a junior. She scored her first world title as a junior in 2004, when she won the road race title.

After racing two full cyclocross seasons in the women’s elite division, Vos beat established favourite Hanka Kupfernagel in January 2006 on home soil to win her first cyclocross world title. Between 2006 and 2022, Vos won the elite CX World title a record eight times.

On the road in 2006, she claimed a stunning victory at the World Championships in Salzburg taking the rainbow jersey in a field sprint of 14 riders. She would reclaim the world title on the road in back-to-back seasons of 2012-2013.

Her incredible road career has included prestigious stage wins in major stage races at the Tour de France Femmes and La Vuelta Femenina, plus she has an incredible 32 stage victories and three GC titles at the Giro d'Italia. In one-day Classics, Vos’ victories include the Tour of Flanders, Amstel Gold Race, Gent-Wevelgem, Trofeo Alfredo Binda, and GP de Plouay. Her victory at the Olympic Games in London was one of the most scintillating races and a career highlight.
In 2015, Vos took time off to rest from overtraining and a hamstring injury, competing in only two events on the road that season for her Rabobank-Liv team and not starting any cyclocross events. She wasted no time getting back to top form in 2016, winning nine times on the road with a third place at La Course by Le Tour de France and finishing ninth at the Olympic Games in the Rio road race. In the fall, she restarted cyclocross and won eight times that season en route to a silver medal at the World Championships.
The Dutch rider has also been a key player in the evolution of women's cycling, fighting for higher pay, speaking out against abuse. She was appointed to the UCI Athlete Commission in 2011 and was part of an effort to convince the Tour de France organisers to add a race for women, which eventually led to the Tour de France Femmes. Vos won two stages and the points classification in the inaugural race in 2022.

Her penchant for winning on any surface continued in 2023 when she won the Gravel, Grit β€˜n Grind endurance off-road event in Sweden in early August, part of the UCI Gravel World Series. However, racing ended shortly thereafter when she had iliac artery surgery on her left leg, which caused her to struggle throughout the year.

Vos returned to top form in 2024, winning Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Dwars door Vlaanderen, the Amstel Gold Race and a stage of the Vuelta Femenina. She won the Volta a Catalunya and the points classification in the Tour de France Femmes. She closed out the season with the victory in the UCI Gravel World Championships.
