Biography:

The Danish rider has proven to be a valuable all-rounder and in 2023 completed the set of Grand Tour stage wins with a victory in the Giro d’Italia. Born in Rønne, Denmark on January 16, 1993, Cort began his pro road career with three different Continental teams from 2012 to 2014.
He raced as a stagiaire on Orica GreenEDGE in 2014 and moved full time to the WorldTour with the same programme in 2015. Over three seasons with the Australian team, he won two stages of the Tour of Denmark and the Clasica de Almeria.
In 2018 he moved to Astana for two seasons, where he won a stage of the Tour and single stages at Paris-Nice, Tour of Oman and BinckBank Tour.
The 2020 season was shortened due to the coronavirus global pandemic, but Cort set out to impress his new EF Pro team with three early podiums, including a stage win, from February’s Etoile de Bessèges. He later added a pair of podiums at Tirreno-Adriatico and his first Vuelta stage victory, showcasing his talents to both climb and sprint well. It was in 2021 during his second season with EF Education that Cort won a trio of stages at the Vuelta a España and finished third in the points classification. He also had stage wins at Paris-Nice and La Route d’Occitanie and a third place on the 249.1km stage 7 of the Tour.
Cort is one of the best breakaway riders in the peloton, which he illustrated in 2022 on a summit finish in Megève on stage 10 of the Tour de France where he outsprinted Nick Schultz in a two-up sprint. That year’s Tour started in Denmark, and he wore the polka-dot jersey during those opening stages. He was again on a Grand Tour podium in 2023 with a stage 10 win and third place on stage 19 at the Giro.

With a move to the Scandinavian team Uno-X Mobility in 2024, Cort added depth to a roster that already included Tobias Halland Johannessen and Alexander Kristoff.
