Biography:

Born in London on June 13, 1999, Fred Wright began racing bikes on the track as a teenager. He rode for the British National Team at several international events on the road between 2016-2019, winning a stage and the youth classification at Ronde de l’Oise in 2018 ahead of compatriot Ethan Hayter. In 2019 he won a stage at the Tour del’Avenir, which earned him a spot with WorldTour CCC Team, who signed him as a stagiaire.

In 2020 Wright landed a multi-year deal with Bahrain-Victorious and completed his first Grand Tour, proving his strength as a breakaway rider when he was fourth on stage 15 to Puebla de Sanabria, the longest stage at the Vuleta a España.

The 2022 season was hugely successful for the young Briton, as he had second-place finishes on stage 13 at the Tour de France, stage 19 of the Vuelta and in the ITT in Commonwealth Games. In fact, at the Vuelta he came away with eight top 10s to finish second in the points classification.

It was in 2023 that he finally notched his first professional victory, winning the British National Championships in the road race. He also took the silver medal in the ITT that week. However, after finishing a second Tour de France, he suffered a broken collarbone at the Renewi Tour and ended his season early.
