Biography:
From hilly one-day Classics to stage races, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig is known as a team leader, both for her climbing ability and for her positive attitude. Born in Frederiksberg, Denmark on August 23, 1995, She began her competitive road career in 2013 riding for a club team in Denmark, a year after she won a silver medal as a junior in the ITT at World Championships. In 2014-2016 she split time with two Danish Continental teams, and in 2016 with Team BMS BIRN her career took off with the elite women’s time trial national championship at age 20. She also won two stages and the GC title at Tour de Feminin in Czech Republic and a pair of mountains classifications - Gracia Orlova and Tour of Norway.
Moving to the Bigla Pro Cycling Team in 2017-2019, she had podiums at Trofeo Alfredo Binda (2017, 2019) and Giro dell'Emilia Internazionale Donne Elite (2018), but proved herself as a versatile rider by winning the Danish ITT national title two more times.
In 2020 she jumped to the WorldTour as a team leader for FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futurescope team. That first season she won La Flèche Wallonne Féminine and took the mountains classification in the nine-day Giro d’Italia Donne. Her first WorldTour victory came in 2021 on stage 3 of the Vuelta a Burgos on an uphill sprint finish. Later that year, she finished 10th in the road race in her first Olympic Games.
In 2022 she earned a signature victory for her French WorldTour team on stage 3 of the Tour de France Femmes, and won her home road national title. By 2023 she landed on the podium at the World Championships, third in the road race, and had taken her second victory at the Giro dell'Emilia Internazionale Donne Elite.
