He hit the ground running in his debut pro season, racking up nine victories as he led Lotto's charge to try and stay in the WorldTour. After winning only his third race at the Trofeo Playa de Palma, he went on to sprint to glory at the likes of the Volta Limburg Classic, Egmont Cycling Race, and a stage at the Tour de Wallonie, ending his first season at an astonishing sixth in the UCI world rankings.
De Lie followed up his fine debut with another stand-out season, winning 10 races including his first WorldTour victory at the GP de Québec.
Prior to turning professional, De Lie took a number of impressive results at junior and U23 level, including the Belgian junior road title, bronze at the junior European Championships, and a win at the U23 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. With his whole career ahead of him, the young talent is certainly one to watch in the coming years.
