Biography:
Andrew "AJ" August, born in Rochester, New York, is a talented multi-discipline rider with success on the road and in cyclocross as a junior.
In his first junior outing in Europe, August won the youth classification in the Junioren Rundfahrt in Austria, a stage in the Watersley Junior Challenge in the Netherlands, and landed overall podiums in La Ronde des Vallées and the Vuelta Junior a la Ribera del Duero.
His first major success came in the Koppenbergcross race in Oudenaarde, Belgium in 2022 where he won the junior men's race. The event finishes on the infamous steep, cobbled climb that is used in the Tour of Flanders. Those results got the attention of the Ineos Grenadiers, who invited him to their team camp the following January.
He went on to win the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championship title in the junior men's race and in the 2023 opened his season with a stage win and second overall at the Redlands Bicycle Classic in California, a win in the GP West Bohemia, second overall in the Course de la Paix Juniors, a stage of the SPIE Internationale Juniorendriedaagse, the US junior title in the time trial and two stages and the overall at the Ain Bugey Valromey Tour.
August signed with the Ineos Grenadiers at the age of 18.
