If you can afford it, RaceFace’s Diabolus is the ultimate crank for the biggest, baddest riders. The massive machined arms and alloy bashring are very heavy, but reinforced spiders have made these beasts pretty much indestructible. They’re even covered by a lifetime warranty to prove it.
As soon as you bolt them onto the bike, you’ll notice their impressive stiffness. These really are the toughest alloy cranks you can choose without going for a three-piece steel jump set.
Steel pedal inserts reinforce the tips of the cranks and the inner ring spider is removable if you switch to a single chainring. The machined RaceFace rings are tough as hell and the alloy bashguard and laser etching look fly, while the hard anodised black finish won't wear off after two rides.
The latest generation Diabolus are easier to fit than previously, although you still need to be patient to get them exactly right. Even with top quality Phil Wood grease inside, the bottom brackets don’t last long. They’re heavy too, and that alloy bashguard soon gets scarred.
