Cyclingnews Verdict

These shoes have flagship in their name for a reason. I have enjoyed pulling them on for cold, muddy rides and they have kept my feet warm and dry. If this top-tier model is overkill for you, Northwave has a huge range of winter shoes .

My winter cycling shoe testing has continued into February, but lately, I’ve headed off-road to mix things up. I’ve been putting the Northwave Flagship GTX winter shoes through their paces. These are Northwaves absolute flagship off-road winter shoes and the Italian brand has gone to town on them.

Design and aestheticsA design that works, whilst being comfortable and performance orientated with top end specs, the only weak spot regarding water ingress is the ankle opening. 9/10
Comfort Highly comfortable, no issues whatsoever for me, and zero restrictiveness from the soft ankle collar9/10
WarmthGenerally very good, quoted as good for -15C which I haven't been able to test, but kept me warm down to around freezing for the most part 8/10
Waterproofness Excellent, barring the ankle openings which is the same with all winter boots I have tested. 8/10
Value Northwave has named this model the 'Flagship' for a reason, it's a no expense, spared, best of everything model, great if you can handle the price 7/10
