The Fizik R1 is David Millar's shoe of choice, and is appropriately stylish.
The shoes feature a slim shape with a reasonably narrow last and very supple kangaroo leather uppers that have plenty of give. This can make them a little difficult to tighten, so you might need a smaller size than usual.
The ratcheting buckle's carbon lever is stiff, but its pivot feels quite unstable, requiring some care to operate, and it's fairly proud of the uppers too. The sailcloth Velcro straps are simple to grab and adjust, but when tightened they can cause a crease beside the tongue.
The T700 carbon sole is super rigid and feels efficient when under pressure, with a heat-malleable Sidas 3D Flex footbed for support, and grippy leather heel liner. Ventilation is pretty good, with plenty of mesh panels and large perforations, and the generously long tongue is wide and cushioned.
