Cyclingnews Verdict

From a performance standpoint the F+B 25 GR wheelset is a low-depth gravel wheelset with a competitive weight and a snappy, responsive, ride feel. The specs aren’t ground breaking but the wheels feel good to ride. You can find the same for cheaper but the reason you might want to put your money behind this product is because that money will be helping to fund a new, sustainable, process for manufacturing carbon fibre.

If you take a look at our list of the best gravel wheelsets available on the market, the choices are pretty incredible. There's just no other way to describe the options listed there. A wheel like the Cadex AR 35 offers the option to spend a lot of money and get yourself an incredibly light and responsive ride. Alternatively the Hunt 42 Limitless Aero wheelset is much less expensive, still competitive on weight, and a leader in aerodynamics. Either way, whatever gravel might mean to you, there are amazing carbon fibre wheels designed to make your ride better.

Testing scorecard and notes
Design and aestheticsThe finish is smooth and glossy with outstanding depth. A beautiful balance of subtle and gorgeous.10/10
Ride qualityWhatever “it” is, these have got it. I don’t find the ride particularly damped but that’s not what I’m looking for. 10/10
Tubeless CompatibilityNo list of approved tyres but hookless is an issue for some people. Ultimately I only knocked a point off because as easy as these were to set up, Zipps are even easier.9/10
HubsWhile the I9 Torch is a well regarded hub, I prefer a DT Swiss style hub without pawls and I suspect the hub is contributing to the weight, and price, of these wheels. 7/10
ValueThe value proposition for these isn’t great. There are wheels you can buy with great ride feel, and aero performance, for less money. You are going to need to be willing to pay for something beyond the hard specs.6/10
