The Women's Tour Down Under continues to go from strength to strength, and this year enjoys categorisation as part of the UCI's new ProSeries. It's a well-run and well-supported event, headed up by director Kimberley Conte, and attracting plenty of fan support and media coverage.
In 2019, Mitchelton-Scott's Amanda Spratt took her third-straight victory at the four-day race, leading an all-Australia podium, winning ahead of teammate Lucy Kennedy and UniSA-Australia's Rachel Neylan, who was riding for the national team rather then her 'normal' Virtu trade team.
Such has been her dominance that Spratt will again start as the clear favourite in 2020 on a course that appears similar to last year's, but with slightly less climbing than in recent years due to the omission of Mengler's Hill, where Spratt arguably made the difference last year, climbing to a solo stage win.
The strength of her Mitchelton-Scott squad, however, will mean that Spratt won't be worried about taking the race to her competitors, but we may well see a closer race than ever.
