Lacombe takes sprint win

Canadian Kevin Lacombe (Spidertech p/b Planet Energy) unleashed his power to surge to victory on stage four of the 2010 Vuelta a Cuba, run over an 86 kilometre course between Bayamo and Holguín.

On one of the shortest stages of this year's race, overnight leader Venezuelan Wilmen Bravo was able to retain a four second lead in the overall classification

The strong pace of the group did not allow many attacks, however, by the 30 kilometre mark a seven man group had established a some two minute lead over the peloton. Among the group were: Venezuelan Miguel Ubeto, Italian Alessandro De Marchi, Julian Munoz of Colombia Epm Une and the leader of the mountains classification, Yoel Solensal.

The escape were caught 20 kilometers from the finish of Holguín, thanks mainly to Canadian and Spanish who were setting the pace for the bunch. In the final three kilometres Spidertech controlled the race, leaving Lacombe in an excellent postition to take the win. Lacombe obliged his teammates' efforts to become just the fourth foreign rider to claim a stage win in the event.
