History made in Louisville, Kentucky
For the first time in the 64-year history of the Cyclo-cross World Championships, the event will take place outside of Europe in the genteel southern town of Louisville, Kentucky.
Because of the complexities and expense of travel, the start list will be shorter than normal, with most countries failing to fill out their allotment of riders.
The USA and Canada will benefit from their proximity in having a full complement of riders on the line. The home team has the most riders present – 22 Americans over the four races – two more than ‘cross powerhouse Belgium.
