The second edition of the UAE Tour is well under way, and runs until February 29, with a world-class field competing over the seven-stage race. Top of the bill is Chris Froome (Team Ineos), with the four-time Tour de France winner having returned to racing for the first time since his career-threatening crash at last year's Critérium du Dauphiné.
Cyclingnews will have live coverage, race reports, photos, news and podcasts from the entire race.
While the opening two stages of the race were the preserve of the sprinters, before the climbers came to the fore for Tuesday's stage 3, when it was Mitchelton-Scott's Adam Yates who put his GC rivals to the sword, stage 4 on Wednesday went back to the sprinters, and it was the turn of Dylan Groenewegen (Jumbo-Visma) who got the better of UAE Team Emirates' Fernando Gaviria and Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) at Dubai City Walk.
Mitchelton-Scott's Adam Yates still leads overall, with a 1:07 buffer back to UAE Team Emirates' Tadej Pogacar, who has nevertheless vowed to try his best to try to make up some of that deficit when the race finishes on the summit of Jebel Hafeet for a second time on stage 5 on Thursday.
Astana's Alexey Lutsenko – the winner of the last two Tours of Oman – sits in third place overall, 1:35 down on Yates, and must still be considered a danger man for the overall title.
Ireland's Eddie Dunbar remains the protected rider for Team Ineos as Froome continues his hopes of rediscovering his form in time for this summer's Tour, and Dunbar rode to 10th on Tuesday's third stage to elevate him to 10th place overall, too, which he'll do his best to try to retain, or even improve upon, over the coming days.
