Tre Valli Varesine kicks off Trittico Lombardo
The Tre Valli Varesine, now it's 91st edition is the first and most important of the trio of late summer Italian classics known as the Trittico Lombardo [Tre Valli Varesine, Coppa Agostini, Coppa Bernocchi]. Raced in the same area as the 2008 world road championships the course suits climbers, and boasts some big name former champions including; Fausto Coppi, Eddy Merckx, Franco Ballerini and Stefano Garzelli. The uphill finish to Campione d'Italia is always spectacular and expect to see a select group to contest the final dash to the line.
