The premier race on the U23 calendar gets a shake up in 2015 with the UCI opening the door for WorldTour riders to take part in the French race. Sebastian Henao (Team Sky) and Marc Soler (Movistar) are two WorldTour riders taking advantage of this rule change and will lead strong Colombian and Spanish squads respectively.
Felice Gimondi, Joop Zoetemelk, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain and Laurent Fignon all won the Tour de l'Avenir before going onto having Tour de France success. In recent years, Nairo Quintana has been the highest profile Tour de l'Avenir winner and has gone onto the win the 2014 Giro d'Italia and finished second at the Tour on two occasions. The talented peloton for the race may just contain a sixth member of that group at the conclusion of the race.
The 2015 edition of the race looks to be a battle between the Colombian, Spanish and French squads while the likes of Laurens De Plus (Belgium) and Jack Haig (Australia), who move move into the WorldTour next year, will look to upset the overall favourites. It's not a race for the GC though with plenty of fastmen announcing themselves at the stage race. Fernando Gaviria (Colombia) and Simone Consonni (Italy) look like being the riders to watch this edition.
