Ronde van Drenthe - overview
The 2018 Women's WorldTour continued in the Netherlands at Ronde van Drenthe. Dutchwoman Amy Pieters continued the winning streak for Boels Dolmans when she won the sprint of some 30 riders after a hard-fought race ahead of Alexis Ryan (Canyon-SRAM) and Chloe Hosking (Alé Cipollini).
Strade Bianche winner Anna van der Breggen remains the UCI Women's WorldTour leader due to her 21st place.
The top women's teams in the world lined up to start the more traditional classics, on March 11 at Ronde van Drenthe in Hoogeveen.
The 141km race began with a series of early cobblestone sections before the 'VAM-berg' climb, which traditionally encourages attacks ahead of a flatter finish.
Past winners include Amalie Dideriksen, Chantal Blaak, Jolien D'hoore, Lizzie Deignan and Marianne Vos.
