Anna van der Breggen increased her lead in the Women's WorldTour ranking after winning her second consecutive title at Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday. The Boels-Dolmans rider caught and passed breakaway rider Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton-Scott) in the closing kilometres to take a solo victory. Spratt finished second while her teammate Annemiek Van Vleuten finished third.
The second edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege Femmes closed out the Ardennes week for the Women's WorldTour peloton. The 135km parcours was a replica of last year's inaugural race, covering the final 35km also used by the men.
The Côte de la Redoute, Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons and Côte de Saint-Nicolas all precede the final climb to Ans where the race was decided.
Anna van der Breggen completed her Ardennes clean sweep in Ans last year and started Liege as the favourite for a repeat victory, and she did not disappoint, taking a solo win.
