Ladies Tour of Qatar 2016 overview
The 2016 Ladies Tour of Qatar will embark on its eighth edition and this year it is ranked as a UCI 2.1 five-day race held from February 2-5. Newly crowned world champion Lizzie Armitstead will not line up with her Boels Dolmans team to defend her title but will instead start her season at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. On the start line there will be previous winners Kirsten Wild (Hitec Products) and Armitstead's trade teammate Ellen van Dijk (Boels Dolmans), along with strong contenders like Chloe Hosking (Wiggle High5), Tiffany Cromwell (Canyon SRAM Racing) and Shelley Olds (Cylance Pro Cycling).

During the 2015 Ladies Tour of Qatar, Armitstead won stage 3 and stage 4 and secured her position as the overall race winner ahead of Chloe Hosking (Wiggle-Honda) and Ellen Van Dijk (Boels Dolmans Cycling Team). Kirsten Wild (Hitec Products), who was not in attendance, had been knocked off her throne after winning four previous editions.
