Beer and Molcik win in Leogang
Beer brothers unstoppable in Austria

The iXS European Downhill Cup's second race took place in Leogang, Austria, along with the Austrian national downhill championships. 336 race participants from 17 countries attended the event at Leogang's Bikepark in the Salzburger Land area.
The weather forecast promised only instability and changing conditions. During the seeding runs on Saturday, heavy rain poured down, and repeated gusts of wind made things even more difficult. Some of the top riders did not manage to get down the 2.3km long course without crashing. But Nick Beer showed his class as he posted the day’s fastest seeding time despite a crash. His performance gave him the right to start as the final competitor in Sunday's finals.
Just in time for those finals, conditions changed for the better. Still all the practicing and seeding runs the previous day had left their mark - making the course even more technical than anticipated.
Austrian Anita Molcik (Yeti) edged out compatriot Petra Bernhard (Ancilotti) in the elite women's class. Switzerland's reigning national champion Emilie Siegenthaler (Scott 11) finished in third after having posted the fastest seeding time.
Featuring more than 120 participants, the elite men's race was dominated by Nick Beer (Scott 11). His brother Marcel Beer (GT) finished second while Germany's multiple-time national champion Marcus Klausmann (Ghost) came in third.
The win moved Nick Beer into the series' overall lead just six points ahead of brother Marcel in second. Lars Peyer (Suspension Center) sits third in the series.
German Leonie Dickerhoff (iXS) won the junior women's race while in the junior men's race, New Zealander Aari Barrett (Scott 11) was the fastest. Joe Edge (Stendec) and his British compatriot Mark Scott (Trek) completed the English-speaking junior men's podium.
In the masters' category, Jörg Heydt (Last) won ahead of Michael Stammbacher (FAT) with the reigning 40-45 masters world champion Marcel Waldmann in third.
