Once again, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal has attracted a packed start list including defending champion Greg Van Avermaet and world champion Peter Sagan. Both riders will again be favourites for the win on the eighth running of the WorldTour race which is crucial in the build up to Worlds. Former winners Simon Gerrans and Tim Wellens are also on the start line and along with Sunweb duo Michael Matthews and Tom Dumoulin, are riders to watch in the battle for the victory.
Montreal's 12.1km course includes a climb over Mont Royal and racers will do 17 laps for a total of 205.7km. A small bunch sprint has often decided the winner but there always the potential for a solo winner as Wellens proved in a wet edition of the race in 2015.
