Kirsten Wild (WNT-Rotor) won Gent-Wevelgem, for a second time, on March 31 in Belgium. The Dutch sprinter took the victory ahead of Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) in second place, while Letizia Paternoster (Trek-Segafredo) was third.
Fourth-placed Marta Bastianelli (Team Virtu Cycling) defended her lead in the UCI Women's WorldTour and Wiebes now leads the youth ranking.
Gent-Wevelgem attracted the best Classics riders because of its 'flatter' 137km parcours held between Ieper and Wevelgem, even though there are several main climbs including the Kemmelberg.
