To celebrate its 110th anniversary, Italian brand Wilier has released a new and very limited edition bike: the Zero.6. Only 200 bikes are available, and it even comes with a matching limited edition pen.
With an appropriately grandiose flourish, Wilier states that this bike is "110 years in the making". It will be available with Campagnolo, Shimano or SRAM transmissions.
A claimed 15% weight saving
Wilier claims the Zero.6 frame weighs in at under 680g. This would shave nearly 15% off the frame weight of the previous incarnation of this bike, the Zero.7 – no mean feat.
"It is not difficult to eliminate 100 grams from a standard frame. We have done it many times over the years," says a statement on Wilier's website. "But if we have to take 100 grams off a frame that weighs less than 800 grams, the going gets tough, if not impossible."
Clearly it's not actually impossible – and Wilier has achieved it by using a new carbon fibre named 'dialled', which is produced by Mitsubishi, as well as a new production process.
Recalling an icon
The Zero.6 will be available in a matt black finish with polished decals and copper highlighting, which, Wilier says, recalls the colours of the first iconic Wilier Triestina bikes. Wilier has also developed a special commemorative logo, which will be placed on the forks.

There are three build options available: full Campagnolo Super Record, which will retail at $10,500, Shimano Dura Ace ($11,500) and SRAM Red eTap (also $11,500). International pricing is yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be in the region of €10,000.
The pen: mightier than the bike?
If the idea of a free pen puzzles you, it's worth noting that this is no disposable Bic Wilier is offering. This is a pen by Montegrappa, purveyors of luxury writing instruments. If you've never encountered one, that could be because its pens start at €350, and head north past €1000 and into the world of 'price on request' for special limited-edition versions.
The writing instrument in question is a special edition of the Miya Carbon created specifically to celebrate the Wilier 110th anniversary. As the name indicates, it has a carbon barrel – though perhaps not the same grade as the bike – and also includes silver and gold in its construction.
Given the limited numbers this will be available in – one per Zero.6 customer – these are also likely to become collectors objects. The Miya Carbon pens start at €725 and go up to €1,375, though the exact retail price of the Wilier 110th anniversary pen is not stated.
