Vacansoleil’s Hoogerland joins Curaçao line-up
Big names return to Netherlands Antilles in November
Johnny Hoogerland will represent Vacansoleil at the season-ending Amstel Curaçao Race in November. The race, held on Curaçao island, part of the Caribbean’s Netherlands Antilles, attracts many top professionals looking to finish their season under sunny skies before the European winter each year.
Race organizer Leo van Vliet was delighted to announce Hoogerland’s commitment to this year’s race, describing him as: "A rider with a lion’s heart".
Hoogerland has enjoyed a strong season, with the rider placing 12th overall at the Vuelta a Espana, where Vacansoleil was awarded a wildcard starting spot. Hoogerland will race against Dutch rider Karsten Kroon, Lars Boom, Kenny van Hummel and Koos Moerenhout to name a few at the November 7 event.
This year’s Amstel Curaçao Race will be the eighth edition, however defending champion Andy Schleck won’t contest the event. Schleck announced earlier this week he would end his season effective immediately.
