The UEC Road European Championships, September 8-12, and the UCI Road World Championships, September 19-26, are right around the corner and uncertainty persists in the Slovenian National Team about a change of leadership following the departure of national coach, Andrej Hauptman.

The Slovenian news outlet Delo reported on August 25 that the team would be led by Marko Polanc, Gorazd Štangelj and Andrej Cimprič. The names are familiar ones in Slovenian cycling, both in its amateur teams, junior teams and the WorldTour.
