New Zealand's cycling federation, BikeNZ has announced the appointment of Terry Gyde to the long-term position of national track cycling coach. According to the organisation, Gyde was selected after an interview process that attracted applicants from around the world. He will start in the role on June 1.
Gyde has been coaching for over 15 years, and recently coached the New Zealand team at the Track Cycling World Championships in Los Angeles in March. There the team produced top six finishes in all but one event and Greg Henderson narrowly missed retaining his scratch world champion title.
Gyde is the fifth person recruited by BikeNZ this year, and joins national road cycling coach Jacques Landry in the high performance team directed by Michael Flynn.
