More than half of team Barloworld's Anglophone cyclists are likely to ride for new British squad Team Sky in 2010. Sprinter Robert Hunter has also been linked with a move to American team, Garmin-Slipstream.

Barloworld ends its sponsorship after seven years

Barloworld announced earlier this month that it will end its sponsorship of the professional continental team at the end of 2009, after seven years as title sponsor.

South African John-Lee Augustyn and Brits Steve Cummings, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas should join Team Sky for next season, according to a Cyclingnews source. Cummings and Thomas finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Coppa Bernocchi Thursday.

Hunter should join Jonathan Vaughters' Garmin team, said the source. Hunter, who has four wins this season, would work with fellow sprinter Tyler Farrar, winner of Vattenfall Cyclassics and three stages of the Eneco Tour.

The official date for riders and teams to announce their contracts is September 1.

The future team of South African Daryl Impey is unknown. He returned to racing this month after recovering from a crash in the Tour of Turkey. He won the general classification at the Tour of Turkey despite breaking two vertebrae in the crash, caused by Theo Bos, in the final kilometre of the last stage.

Barloworld manager Claudio Corti is currently looking for a new sponsor to replace the South African company in order to ensure the team's future into 2010.
