Retired Belgian professional cyclist Johan Museeuw, who last raced for Quick Step in 2004, received a 10-month suspended jail sentence and was ordered to pay 2500 euro for his involvement in a 2003 doping scandal, according to a recent AP report.
Museeuw, a multiple Paris-Roubaix winner and 1996 World Road champion, was accused of possessing endurance-enhancing erythropoietin (EPO) and Aranesp. The 43-year-old Museeuw had been banned for two years by Belgium's national cycling federation, and confessed in 2007.
The Belgian now runs his bicycle company, Museeuw Bikes, from Lokeren, Belgium.
