World Champion Anna van der Breggen (SD Worx) earned five per cent of what Davide Ballerini (Deceuninck-QuickStep) earned for winning the Classics-opener Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in Ninove, Belgium on Saturday.

The discrepancy between the men’s and women’s payouts has reignited a long-running discussion over a push for equal prize money in cycling.
